How We Help

Since 2011, the Shiawassee Hunger Network (SHN) has provided help and funds to local food pantries. SHN is a County Wide collaboration with pantries in Owosso, Corunna, New Lothrop, Vernon, Durand and more. Food, basic needs items, (i.e. soaps, toilet paper, etc.) and baby items are distributed weekly to those in need. Each MONTH we serve an average of 1,500 people with enough food to make over 11,000 meals!

Are you a food pantry? Join the SHN Today!

Currently there are 11 Shiawassee County Food and Basic Needs Pantries that are members. If your church or organization helps the poor in any way, you can also be part of the Shiawassee Hunger Network. There are many Benefits in becoming a member:

· Receive Meijer Simply Giving food cards.
· Receive food from the Greater Lansing Food Bank through the Mobil Food Truck.
· Receive FREE produce Monthly from the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
· Benefit from fundraisers and food drives, Postal Office Letter Carrier Fundraiser, High School Food Challenge, and much more!

Volunteers & Donors Needed

You don’t have to be a pantry to join the SHN. We rely on groups and service clubs to volunteer and do fundraisers for our network of pantries. Together we can help feed Shiawassee County. Youth Groups, Women and Men’s Clubs, Service Organizations, Colleges, School Groups and others can help the SHN by volunteering at local Food Distributing Sites, Mobile Food Pantries, Fundraising events and more.

Can’t volunteer? Why not hold a fundraiser, food drive, or activity that will benefit all SHN Pantries? Call the Shiawassee Hunger Network to set up an appointment to go over the various ways you can help!
